Kia Optima - "WOW"

This week I was in the all new 2011 Kia Optima.  I have been trying to demo this car for the last couple of weeks but haven’t been able to because Young Kia can’t keep them in stock.  They are selling like, dare I say it, Hot Cakes (I have been in my Buick to long i’m turning old).  Young Kia in Kaysville Utah has finally gotten a huge inventory of Kia Optimas and a large line of all the Kia Products.  I finally got to take this out.  After picking up the key fob from Scott I found out that it is a keyless start.   So I just through the key into my pocket and walked up to the car.  As soon as I got close enough the car can sense that the key is near and you can unlock the car by just touching the handle!  I LOVE THIS FEATURE!  I was able to carry as many things as I wanted up to the car and not worry about how i’m going to get into my pocket to pull out the fob and unlock the doors.

After opening the door I take a seat in this clean leather with this amazing stitch and awesome accenting mesh.

The seat was comfortable but what happened next was a pleasant surprise that I didn’t expect and have yet to see.  The Kia Optima felt that I just sat down and played me a little welcome tune and on the color screen behind the wheel it had these cool little graphics that said “WELCOME”!  This screen is really cool.  It has all of the modern features plus it gives it to you in a format that is in color and has added graphics to it.

The front is just super aggresive and these rims that come from the factory are killer.  Also this vehicle just has a mean stance and power to back it up.  After taking it down the 1/4 mile drag strip out at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City (www.rmrracing.com) I got to really feel the power of the turbo.  What I really noticed is that if ever I needed to get up and going I could almost break out the tires at any speed, but the long term power lacked when I got it into the higher speeeds (90s and 100s).  Here is the next unexpected prize.

This Kia Optima has an enormous trunk!  I would say that this trunk had more space than the Buick Regal and the Lacrosse combined!  Its enormous.  It is easily a 3 golf bag trunk with room for a small body left over.

All in all this was a very impressive vehicle and a huge advance in the Kia Optima brand.  So if you are looking for a roomy, 4 door sedan that still has some power that gets mid to high 20s gas mileage for an amazing price you will need to look at the KIA Optima in Kaysville Utah at Young Kia.  You can find them at www.youngkia.com
